The NITEforce ground plane antenna is precisely tuned so you can get by with the same ground cable if the channels are changed during the hunt. The cable has a soft silicone shell with a flexible copper core. The attachment loop under the antenna on the VHF telephone is a pair of solid copper. Copper is definitely the best choice of material for the ground wire!

How does the NITEforce ground wire antenna work?
The NITEforce ground wire antenna together with its own VHF telephone antenna forms a uniform dipole effect. Because both antennas complement each other, the overall radiation from your VHF phone is improved so you can hear and transmit for longer.

The VHF telephone ground wire antenna is suitable for all VHF telephones where the antenna ground point is pure metal at the base of the antenna. At the end of the ground cable is a full copper lasso, which is tightened under the phone's own antenna. If necessary, the ground wire's copper lasso can be trimmed to fit your phone, for example by shortening it or making the loop larger or smaller. During use, the silicone cord is allowed to hang straight down freely under its own weight.
